Please come prepared for your fitting...
First Pair Fittings: If you are being fitted in your first pair of pointe shoes please wear clean (preferably convertible/transition) tights, if possible, and be prepared to share any specific directions or suggestions your instructor has given you. Please be prepared to try on several sizes, brands, and styles of pointe shoes to find your best possible fit. Fittings usually run about 15 to 30 minutes. Expect to purchase your new shoes, a pair of toe pads, and ribbon and elastic to sew onto your shoes. Other optional, but often encouraged purchases, can include a stitch kit to aid in sewing your shoes with the perfect color thread, a mesh bag to nicely dry and store your shoes in, and a resistance band to strengthen and stretch the feet if needed. We file every pointe shoe purchase by dancer, studio, date, brand/style, and size to ensure we know each and every detail about your pointe experience.
Re-fits: Because we keep track for all of our dancers, a re-fit pointe shoe fitting can be very simple! In many cases, a re-fit is simply going up in size for our growing dancers, or even just getting a fresh pair of the same shoes to replace the ones that have broken or worn down over rehearsal and class time. However, a re-fit can also include exploring new styles, brands, and shank strengths and finding solutions to common issues a pointe dancer may encounter (i.e. bruised toenails, ingrown toenails, blisters, isolated pain, bunion pain, cramping, and muscle fatigue.) If you feel your fitting may need to be a bit more "exploratory" please let us know when scheduling!! Please be sure to schedule an appointment with us, even if you feel your fitting may be quick and easy, to be sure that we have the proper amount of allotted time to find your perfect pointe shoe and take the absolute best care of you and your feet!
We ALWAYS suggest scheduling an appointment ahead of time to ensure that there is a 20 minute time slot specifically dedicated to each dancer that enters our store to be fitted. Please wear transition tights and bring your toe p-ads and old shoes if you have them! We schedule our Professional Pointe Shoe Fittings 15 minutes after opening until 30 minutes before close, based on that days hours of operation and appointment availability.
